The Heckington and District Radio Group lottery is NOW OPEN. Please consider supporting us. 50p from every £1 you spend comes to the club. As you all know, unusally for a radio club, we don’t charge any membership fees or subs. But we do still want to build a great club. The more we raise, the more we can do and the quicker we can do it! And best of all, you get the chance to win a whopping £25,000! Just £1 a week is all it costs to help us and be in with a chance!

Heckington & District Radio Group is an RSGB affiliated radio club, with members based in and around the village of Heckington in Lincolnshire.

Hobby radio is a great way to make friends and keep in touch. At its simplest, it is free, easy to use and encourages spoken interaction, getting people out from behind anonymous computer keyboards. Whereas online social media tends to encourage division, argument and entrench polarised views, spoken radio communication encourages positive relationships and a sense of community. It’s a great way to help beat lonliness and social isolation.

On a more technical level, it is also fascinating hobby with significant educational benefits, helping people to learn new skills and broaden horizons. It works for people of all ages, including children, giving them practical insight in science and communications technology.

Unusually, for an amateur radio club, we encourage the use of licence free CB and PMR446 radio as a way of getting people on the air and talking straight away. A core part of what we try to do at H&DRG is loan out simple equipment and support people to join the hobby, if they can’t afford equipment themselves or would like to try hobby radio before commiting to buying equipment. We also support people to use radio and to prepare for amateur radio exams, if they decide to apply for their amateur radio licence.

Also unusually, membership of H&DRG is FREE! Yes, that’s right. We don’t charge a membership fee or have subscriptions. We raise the money that we need to purchase equipment and to support people, through grants and the NK Lottery. Purchasing a ticket helps us (because 50p of every £1 spent comes to the club) and puts you in with a chance of winning up to £25,000!

So, please purchase one or more regular tickets and help us get more people on the air and enjoying the benefits of hobby radio. And good luck in the draw!
